People who love to watch birds will try many ways to entice the birds to come and visit their gardens. Bird feeders with a variety of tasty and interesting pieces will bring different species to come and socialize around a feeder. A bird bath will provide a place where the birds can perch and drink their fill of water in peace. This also gives them access to a bathing place. Another way of providing for the birds is to give them a ready made nesting site. This can be a store-bought bird house or you can see the many bird house kits that are available and buy one to assemble by yourself.

As there is a huge selection of bird house kits you should consider what this kit will be used for. Are you going to have this bird house as a permanent feature in your garden or is this bird house kit for a project? The other thing that you will need to decide is what type of bird are you providing this bird house for?

These bird house kits are excellent ways to introduce your children to the beauty of the birds that come to our backyards. The kit makes a fun project for scouting, summer camps, various educational events, school projects and other types of activities.

However as these kits come with small parts like galvanized nails it is best to assemble these bird house kits away from small curious children who may choke as a result of trying to eat the kit parts.

You will find that the bird house kits are made for single birds and multi family birds. That is, you can have more than one pair of birds residing in your bird house. All of the kits are made from high quality raw, rough-sawn Western Red Cedar wood. They come with instructions and the basic component parts.

You should find in your kit pre-measured and ready cut pieces of Cedar wood. A number of good quality galvanized nails. Pre-drilled entrance and mounting holes for easy assembling. However on overhanging roof models that are to be pole mounted, there will not be any pre-drilled holes for hanging or mounting.

The surface of these bird house kits are all primed and ready to be painted. Basic shade applications can be painted on to the bird house with no problems. For those of you who desire a more detailed looking bird house, you will first need to sandpaper the kit to the desired smoothness. Then you can fill the details and paint what sort of design that you want your new bird house to have.

With a fun project like this, building bird houses is such a joy. The many bird house kits that you see may encourage you to go all out and make your garden a haven for birds of all species.
